For 2007 it was a Green rather than a red carpet awards........
Clare Reed of Midlands based Reeds Carpeting Contractors has won the 2007 Performance Textiles Award for Excellence, scooping another two Awards in the process.
The annual Awards were presented on 6 March, 2007 at a Gala Dinner at the Park Inn Hotel in Telford, timed to coincide with the Performance Textiles two day exhibition at the nearby Telford International Centre. The Awards recognise and reward excellence in the many different spheres of the technical textiles industry.
2007 Winners, sponsors & President
It proved a hat-trick for Clare who not only won the main award, but also two of the Awards' five categories, picking up the Business Person of the Year and also collecting the trophy on behalf of Reeds Carpeting Contractors in the Social Responsibility Category.
Completing the line-up of winners were Intension who won the Project of the Year category, De Boer Structures, winners in the Innovation category and Macey & Bond who took the Business of the Year.
One of the main focuses for Reeds which caught the attention of the Awards judges was their Evo-Collection of recyclable carpet systems, a new development which aims to reduce the staggering 12 million square metres of carpet from the events and exhibition industry which end up in landfill sites. The new system has been developed by working closely with manufacturers and Warwick University to fine tune a process which allows the carpet to be converted into mouldable plastic pellets which can be used to manufacture a wide range of products, from waste bins and buckets to plant pots and storage boxes. The judges also paid tribute to Clare's own dynamism and creative thinking in taking the company forward, recognising her "…talent in identifying an individual's capabilities and encouraging their personal development" along with "…an infectious enthusiasm and passion for what she believes in."
A special President's Award was also made by Performance Textiles Association President David Ramus to Mike Bunting in recognition of his outstanding service to improving standards within the UK marquee industry.
